Changes in sexual behavior of HIV-infected older adults enrolled in a clinical trial of standalone group psychotherapies targeting depression.
One in five HIV-positive older adults reported engaging in HIV transmission sexual behaviors over the 1-year study period. Changes in sexual behavior were unrelated to the receipt of mental health therapies targeting depression.

Depression moderates treatment efficacy of an HIV secondary prevention intervention for HIV-positive late middle-age and older adults.
HIV-positive older adults responded more favorably to a behavioral intervention aimed at reducing condomless sex and improving the quality of sexual relationships when experiencing mild levels of depressive symptoms, relative to no or moderate-to-high levels of depressive symptoms.

A 4-session telephone motivational interviewing intervention demonstrated preliminary efficacy to reduce condomless sex in HIV-positive persons 45+ years of age.

The relationship between neuropsychological functioning and HAART adherence in HIV-positive adults: a systematic review.
Impaired neuropsychological functioning within the domains of executive functioning and problem solving, learning and memory, attention and working memory, and global functioning was associated with lower antiretroviral medication adherence among people living with HIV.

Reasons for discontinuation of long-term opioid therapy in patients with and without substance use disorders.
After controlling for demographic and clinical characteristics, patients with SUD were more likely to have opioid therapy discontinued due to a clinician- vs. patient-initiated reason.

Development and preliminary evaluation of an integrated cognitive-behavior treatment for chronic pain and substance use disorder in patients with hepatitis C virus.
Results from this pilot study suggest that a customized CBT for patients with both chronic pain and SUD (CBT-cp.sud) may be beneficial in improving important pain and addiction-related outcomes in patients with HCV.

Correlates of prescription opioid therapy in veterans with chronic pain and a history of substance use disorder.
Patients with substance use disorder histories who are prescribed long-term opioid therapy have a greater number of pain diagnoses and report greater pain intensity relative to patients with substance use disorders on short-term or no opioid therapy.

The relationship between PTSD and increased chronic pain severity and interference is partially accounted for by increased depressive symptoms and use of pain coping strategies that focus on one’s limitations.
